My name is Katherine De La Cruz. I’m originally from the Dominican Republic and live in Brooklyn.  I’m an Anthropology major in my Junior year. I have never taken a formal women and gender studies class so I am excited to learn more about women’s movements and activism.  I believe that being knowledgeable about issues of sexuality and gender will make my anthropological research more complex.

% Astrit Astafaj completed

Hi everyone, my name is Astrit Astafaj. I am a sophomore at Hunter College. I live in Staten Island. I am majoring in economics because I enjoy the business aspect of society and hope to learn more about how our society functions. For this class, I hope to gain a perspective on woman and learn the different struggles that they faced in the past. I would also like to see how roles of woman have changed over time and how they have been able to over overcome obstacles towards equality. It is also important to notice that women still face discrimination and it is pertinent to not ignore it.

My name is Michael Li. I am from Jersey City, but New York is my stomping grounds.  My family is from China, but I have never left the US east coast.  I am a computer science major with no intentions on working with computers at all.

As for this class, I look forward to being able to add to my perspective, ideas and concepts about gender in our society.  I do not expect to integrate what I learn to something specific other than everyday life. I welcome new ideas and look forward to someone, or something that would challenge my own.
